For thousands of years women have been valued for their appearance while men were valued for their resources and ability to provide. Today, women have equal rights and an equal ability to work and provide for themselves.
With this new equality women have gained it has allowed them to be selective in the appearance of the mate they choose to be. In today's society a man's appearance has become just as relevant as a woman's.
Women no longer depend on men for resources and desire an attractive mate just as men do. Therefore it makes no sense that society still places so much more emphasis on a man's ability to provide.

I was diagnosed with ED when I was 50. Viagra helped but it still didn’t get as hard as I thought it should. I pretty much stopped fucking for two years until I went with a friend to Thailand and the Philippines. My problem wasn’t ED after all. It was overweight middle aged women with a fucked up attitude. Yeah, I never got that whole idea of finding a man who provides or whatever. I would rather be able to provide for myself because after so many years of being dependent on my parents as a kid, as an adult now I’d like to break away from that. But yeah, society still clings onto that notion probably because back in feudal time marriage was more of an alliance/economic-based institution rather than an act of love.
