Sometimes people say I'm smart, but I can't help but feel skeptical if they're just basing it off of their expectations of my
I'm a black woman and my whole life I've heard, "you're so smart", or, "you're so intelligent".
I think I am to some extent, but people often make it seem like I'm much smarter than your average person, which I don't necessarily agree with.
I always feel skeptical when people say this to me because I feel like they're approaching me with their expectations of how smart I'll be. Like, I always wonder if there's a hidden, "for a black girl" that's supposed to be at the end
