I was in my mid twenties and lived in a big house with a bunch of roommates. We threw house shows and parties all the time. One weekend we had a 3 band bill, some pretty good local punk bands, tons of people came. As per usual, by the end of the night there's a number of people you either have to kick out or find a solution for - drunks who don't know where they are, etc. There was one girl, super young, maybe HS, underage, we shouldn't even have let her in but it was a party and we didn't give a shit those days. She was so drunk she was slipping in and out of consciousness. Couldn't walk. A couple girls I knew from the neighborhood said they'd take care of her and they left. Maybe 15 minutes later they came back and said the girl was freaking out about them kidnapping her so they said she was my problem and left her. I put her on the couch and gave her a blanket. I crashed. A few hours later I got up to go pee and she was in the kitchen rummaging for food. She'd sobered up a bit. We talked for a few minutes and she asked if she could take a shower somewhere and wash her clothes (she puked on her shirt). I showed her where the laundry was and the shower. She asked if she could stay until the morning and go home then and I told her yeah no problem. I went to bed. Never seen her again...until about a year later. I get a knock on the door. Two cops. They arrest me. Detective questions me for an hour...turns out, after all that time, she comes up with some obscure memory about getting gang raped at my house - by me and two other guys. She picked me from a lineup, even knew my name. They offered me a deal if I gave up the other two guys. I told them everything I knew. The same story I just told you, albeit with more detail, and even gave them the names of my roommates, one of them had left by that time, so they could question them and even put it on record that I have no way of knowing what happened between others in the house and her but I had nothing to do with it.

I got 90 days in jail, felony, probation, 240 hours of community service. Registered sex offender. Didn't do a single thing. Whenever I apply for a place to live, a job, trying to date, I have to repeat this story. Just like you will probably say, "you're lying." Sometimes I really wish I would have just carried her to some corner and left her, not my problem. I was going to community college at the time. I'm in my 40's now. I've done okay but it's been really hard, certainly not the life I would have liked.
