People who dont get help for their anxiety shouldn't get excuses to be rude

So the title sounds harsh, and for starters I'd like to say I've battled with anxiety my whole life. I've been to the ER with panic attacks so bad I thought I was having heart attacks. I've been stuck in bed before because it just felt so crippling. Now for some context for my rant - I have two family members who refuse to come to family events due to social anxiety. They are in their 30s and tbh are just large children. Their parents cater to them in every way but somehow they think they're always oppressed and some kind of minority that no one understands. I really dont care about them because they're annoying tbh but it sucks because it makes their parents not stay at family events long because they understandably want to also go see their kids. If you say anything about the kids you're put off as "judging them". It makes it worse that they refuse medication, therapy, or any other type of help for their psychological issues. I've just gotten to the point that if you refuse that much help your shitty actions blamed on your issues just becomes rude.i get major social anxiety too but I've been to therapy. It doesnt cure it but now I can manage. Anyways since it's the holidays I just needed to vent.

You're correct, however it's also up to you to allow the excuse bullshit get into your head. Much cleaner to just blow that shit off. Now, if it's fucking with your life somehow, then you take the stand and call it out. Otherwise, the issue is on them. Compassion is one thing. Enabling a manipulative narrative is another.
