I have this irrational fear that people will place things inside my food. Years of watching this plot device in television and film has conditioned me to look for glass, blood, spit, fecal matter, toxic chemicals and possible drugs because as a teenager I watched a friend do this to food they then handed to another friend (I stopped speaking to both of them) because of a difference that happened at a party.
I don't take preparing food and food safety lightly because of this memory. It is an unspoken faith you place in people handling your food.
