No one cares that I almost died...
**Kind of a clickbait title but not entirely. Let me elaborate.**
When I was around two years old I almost managed to drown. How? Well my mom was sleeping on the couch, and being a two year old I wanted to explore. It didn't help my moms case that I was good at parkour and could get myself out of a boxspring whilst wearing my baby onesie (I don't know how I managed to do stuff like that either).
So when my brother went out to play with his friends I managed to slip past him. Getting myself on the streets. I still don't understand how he didn't see me but it happened.
My brother went around the corner to play with his friends at a small playground. I wanted to follow him so I did. Next to the path towards the playground is a small lake of sorts. Its maybe around a meter deep. So not much at all. When I came closer to said lake I saw a couple of ducks in the water. Of course with my two year old brain I was entertained. So entertained that I want to touch them. So I came closer and closer. I fell into the water for a split second, and would've stayed there if one of my neighbors didn't see me.
He picked me up from my collar and I was soaked. He knew my brother and brought me to him. Of course my brother rushed home and had woken up my mom. She was devastated that she didn't notice anything and was in shock. (I can understand)
What frustrates me is when I tell this to friends of mine they just laugh it off or focus on a small grammatical error that I made. It is still a huge deal for me. I could've been dead. Done for, it's an eye opener for me, but it feels like most of them don't give a fuck. Don't get me wrong they are good hearted people and they care about me. Yet I feel annoyed when they don't take it seriously.
The worst part is that after nearly 17 years I still don't know who this neighbor was. I want to know but I don't know where to look..
TL;DR I almost drowned in a lake when I was two years old. Neighbor saved me.
PS: Sorry for any grammatical errors, English isn't my native language.
