As a half White/Hispanic, I grew up pretty lower class and with a Mexican father and a White mother. Both of which would get along well and are happily married. My father moved to the States in his teens and he met my mother in his early twenties. I was born. When I was growing up he would tell me that he had me raised with English being my first language despite both my parents having Spanish being their first language. He told me this was because he didn't want me facing discrimination like he did when he was younger. He still doesn't speak perfect English, but I do and I have him to thank for it. Only recently have I even considered learning Spanish as a second language. Seeing that I want to go into a career as a police officer and I live in California, this obviously is the best move I can make. I still haven't thanked my father enough for it, but I'm sure he feels he did the right thing, as it was just one of the countless sacrifices he has made for me.

Hispanics are a nationality, not a race. You're father's race is mestizo.
I'm also Hispanic, and black.
