I believe it was Abbott who said everyone who kills someone with a gun suffers from mental illness.
This mental illness argument is one that just absolves all legislators from taking action...
And then, with this "mental illness" logic, does every person who kills another person via another means of violence suffer from mental illness, as well? Or just those who use guns?
And therefore, why is anyone jailed for murder? Why aren't they all just being treated in institutions, because, isn't it all just *mental illness*?
And thus, those who commit all other crimes that are lesser than murder should receive harsher sentencing, because that's *not* mental illness?
So, then is there no middle ground??? Everyone who kills is either a hero (i.e., military, police, etc.) or a villain?
Then isn't that all in the eye of the beholder?
None of this b.s. "mental illness" *logic* makes any g.d. sense.
