I was told to reconsider being a therapist, by a therapist!
English is not my first language*
So today I was taking a medical test. There was a doctor there and a therapist. Both women.
In the hospital, the therapy office is on the same floor. My doctor and the therapist were both friends and very kind to me. She asked if she could stay with me during the procedure (she was there when I entered the room).
I accepted. We are all women after all and they were kind. I didn’t know she was a therapist I thought she was a nurse or so, at first. They were all wearing a white ‘uniform’.
During my procedure she kept asking me questions, we talked about life and human intraction, how I deal with stress and other people etc.
I was basically having a free therapy session lol.
In the end she said she was impressed by my answers at such a young age (i’m a young adult). She told me I should reconsider my career and start a psychology college or to train to become a therapist myself.
I didn’t know if it was a compliment at first. But anyway they were pretty kind. Considering my career is very ‘engineering oriented’, I now question myself if my ‘life choice’ was correct because I don’t exactly enjoy what I do now even if i’m good at it.
