I hate my boss. He demoted me two levels and now he keeps telling me to be more proactive without giving me direction.

So, I started work at a new place a few months ago.
My work had never been an issue before but I came in to the new place and found they did things really differently to the way I’d been trained.
Most common example is that we would outsource certain tasks to specialists because it was cheaper and at the new firm, they perform these tasks themselves.
He demoted me on this basis saying that I don’t perform at the required level.
Since my demotion, I haven’t gotten much feedback from him. I hate working with him because he gives very little direction and expects me to guess what he’s talking about. All of that would be fine but he’s paying me less money because I’m supposedly not capable so I feel like he can’t be treating me on the same basis that he hired me.
I can’t talk about this to anyone because the demotion itself is extremely embarrassing and everyone I know will say that I don’t deserve it, why I’m standing for it, etc. and I have no response.
I hate my job. I don’t want to be there. I struggle to wake up in the morning.
I want to do the bare minimum and not get fired that’s how little I care.
I just. Yea. I don’t know.

Do not get fired, as an unemployed person it is hard to find a job. Look for another job now, your excuse is that the company will be downsizing soon. Proactive means to be innovative and take action when you see a problem, identify the problem and solve the problem,,,get it?
