I hate having dark skin, but more than that I hate being stigmatized for wanting light skin

I just don't get it. What's so wrong about wanting to be light skinned?
Literally every single discussion I've seen online about people wanting light skin gets flooded with platitudes like "ooooh no dark skin is beautiful! learn to love yourself hun xx" "wow thats some toxic internalized colorism you've got there! you should be happy with your color" etc etc.
I don't hate myself. I'm pretty happy with my appearance for the most part. I'm a tall guy with nice features, I don't have dating problems. But I still think I would look better if I was a few shades lighter. Same way a short guy can be content with his life but wish he was taller. For the record I also wouldn't want to be pale, that would look shitty on me as well. But you know what, that would be an upgrade - since I could always tan from there. If you're dark you're pretty much SOL.
I just wish people would actually accept the fact that for a lot of people having dark skin is something they have to cope with, it's not simply a matter of flipping a switch in your head and deciding "oh wow! someone posted some bullshit platitudes about dark skin being beautiful! I guess my mind is changed now!"
Stupid rant, but had to say it somewhere. Cheers for reading
