This happened a while ago, but it still really does affect me to this day.

I was with my girlfriend at her families neighborhood. Her neighborhood is far from normal, and what I mean by that is not, 'Oh they're just silly' I mean that as in a lot of illegal type stuff.

Anyways, her family occasionally takes care of a stray dog that wanders the area from time to time. On this day, however, it wandered a bit too far in the wrong direction, still in the street. An older black fellow was standing in his yard, saw us and said, 'If that dog wanders anywhere near my yard I will fucking shoot him.' The man, by law, has every right to do that to protect his home. But even still, the dog has been known for kindness and small skittishness. Not full blown attacks.

We try to get the dog, but as just mentioned the dog is skittish. Imagine trying to herd cattle, and you can imagine what we tried doing. The dog got scared and ran, unluckily in the direction of before mentioned yard. His gun was pulled, and aimed with finger fully on the trigger.

No bullet was shot, no one was hurt. Instead a lot of threatening and yelling did ensue, but none of it escalated past that. Weapons were put down and everyone returned to their homes. The dog was also taken to a local shelter, aaaand least to say my girlfriend broke down for a solid hour or two in my arms.

Even now, however, I'm still shaken up by it... It happened about a month ago, and it's still terrifying to think of.
