My finances dad has had a major stroke. Completely lost the use of his right side and still can't speak well enough to get his basic needs across. He can't smell and his taste has been completely altered to the point he basically doesn't eat. His wife is his caretaker while my fiance and I have come in to assist. The dad ran a company that my fiance and I both worked for. My so took over running the company to keep income coming in for him so the wife can not worry about income and focus on taking care of the dad.
This is where it gets messy. The wife was used to a life on the go before the stroke. Constantly going out shopping going out to etc basically spending the majority of the day away and spending money. This means the son is being made to watch his dad and try to remote manage a company. All while the wife just continues on as if nothing happened. The son got irritated after about 2 months of this and made comment. The wife had a (very fake looking) meltdown saying she doesn't get time to herself to do what she wants. The son and I literally gave up our jobs to come help his dad. And she is just using us.
Further explanation is that the son(my fiance) is running his dad's company so they have income and the wife is just doing as she pleases. The son is now very depressed as we are walking on eggshells around the wife because she has constantly blamed us for everything going wrong since the stroke. One argument cause the dad to have seizures. He can't take stress and she continues to cause him stress.
The son is also not able to run the company because of the mental gymnastics he is having to do to maintain peace. He basically has stopped running it and it's falling apart. He is trying to figure out how to tell his dad he is just going to quit. This does absolutely ruin him financially as the wife doesn't and hasn't had a job. But my fiance is tired of working his butt off drawing a tiny check while the wife goes on like nothing ever happened.
