I think we often forget how important this is.
A few days ago I was at Walmart, with my two toddlers in the cart, sooo ready to go home and have a nap, we had been for about 40 minutes in the store there was three people ahead of us in the line, I thought “at least this should
Be quick”mmm nop, first person in line, asking all sort of questions about the items she was buying. They called supervisor, went to check on the products... came back, went to check again, then finally she asked to cancel the transaction... supervisor again... moved on to the next person, went pretty quick until payment... she kept having trouble with her card, tried 4 times then tired another one and this one worked... ok, it wasn’t til bad right. Then next person, a Wic user, she was probably a new user because everything she was buying wasn’t allowed, and she kept having to exchange products, (go back to the isle) at some point she refuses to do it again and demands to speak to a supervisor, she had started to argue with the cashier about what she could take, and said the cashier didn’t know how it worked and she wanted to speak with the supervisor, ok supervisor came they went blablabla. It took about 10 minutes for everything to be resolved, in the meantime my kids are crying, trying to get down from the cart, fighting me, fighting each other... I did raised my voice Several times to attempt keeping them quiet and not destroy what was in the shelves that they could reach. I was soooo done, I did consider leaving everything and just going home, but I really needed the groceries.
So it’s my turn, the cashier has the most unfriendly face and actitud, I guess my kids didn’t help at all. I was annoyed that she gave attitude, but I smiled at her and asked “how are you?” Busy day ah., are you at least gonna be done soon? I was really
Impress how her look, and body language change in a second. She looked at me like so thankful, so please, so relieved, and said she was almost done, but had been a long day, and that she would have to drive long to get home, but she needed the money. She talked to my kids being very sweet with them. And I felt so good, because I know I made a difference in this woman’s life, at least for that day, I know I was a little break from al the rudeness she has to constantly face. I just want to remaind you all to be kind to others!! You may be making a big difference!!
