My family has raised chickens for their eggs. (We still do!) When I was about 5 I was always scared to go by them because I was afraid I would catch chicken pox. (Nobody had told me anything about how it starts/spreads, so naturally I assumed it started from chickens.) This went on until I was like 9. Lol
