An innocently made comment has undermined my confidence

I don't really have any point to sharing this, words won't help how I feel and I need to get over it and stop being a little *beach*.
Context of the situation: For a few months, I've been volunteering, work is interesting, puts my interest in history to use, has me dealing with the public, and the staff are all great. Usual stuff, nothing exciting. However, just recently, a position opened up. The manager I deal with daily told me about the position, at the end of the day I was taken aside and almost word for word told "There's a position opening up, we want you to get it".
So, of course I applied, I was successful. Got through my interview. Got the job, start tomorrow (Technically today, no sleep best sleep, w00t! /s)
But this is where my trouble is, I am now doubting how well things actually went. To be taken aside and told "We want you to get it" and then getting it feels odd. I don't feel as though I've gotten it by my own merit. I don't quite understand why it's affecting me the way it is, but I don't like it.
I honestly would almost rather have not gotten it because it has somehow put some doubt in my head.
Dunno what to do with that. But oh well.

Don't let this gnaw at you. The reason they said it is because they see you as highly qualified.
