The affordable care act is anything but affordable for those of us who are paying the real premiums and not getting any subsidies from the government. Those of us forced off our old insurance plans and now have to pay twice as much in premiums and four times as much in deductibles . Oh yes more things are covered, its just my co pays are so high now that I can't afford to use them. It may work for people on the lower end of the income scale but if you are in the middle trying to pay premiums that are as much as a mortgage payment every month its not so great!

The reason your premiums are so high is one all the healthy people would rather pay the small fine then get insurance and you have to have the healthy people enrolled too for it to work and two all the insurance and health companys are so used to making super hight profits that they are gutting the system.

The premiums are so high because they threw everyone into the same pool and we now are forced to pay for everyone. I don't blame the healthy people for not buying insurance, at these prices they can't afford to . When you are talking about premiums like mine which are now $560.00 a month for a single person, something has to change. More and more people will have no choice but to drop their coverage. This whole thing was done with one thing in mind and that was eventually having to move to a single payer system.
